Mobile Business Directory for Dayboro

Been messing around with the mobile interface for the Dayboro Directory.

  • Easy to use
  • Less is better
  • Fast (within reason)
  • Cater for most of the needs and,
  • local information.
Mobile Business Directory for Dayboro

Feedback received on Dayboro Chit Chat.

What I got from the Dayboro Chit Chat FB feedback, is it was to busy on mobile devices. To much to read, basically way to much informatin.

I reduced it to a search on keyword and/or location.

Added two buttons about outages, looking at the FB trends it seems to be a topic that is asked frequently.

Let me know what you think, and pls provide feedback. This front end will become a hybrid app for on your phone.

Only paid businesses get listed?

Hundrerd Dollars Note

Only businesses with paid adverts in the printed version will be included in the online directory. Is this correct?

No, non-paying will get a mention, the advert is simply not as elaborate. Their name and phone number will be mentioned. See attached for the difference.

We aim to get ALL businesses in the online directory, paid to get the first mention and show higher in the search results. Unpaid get listed on the bottom if there is space left, still, they get added, should they want to be listed.

You still can get a full listing (premium, full-page, half-page and/or quarter page) by applying for one. Not sure if it is too late for the printed version, but it gets you listed in the directory.

Difference between paid and unpaid adverts.

Keep in mind, it is all run by volunteers for free for the Dayboro Lions, you will find that most monies from the paid adverts will be used for Lions Projects.

The businesses in the online directory alphabetical order

The businesses in the online directory do not seem to be listed in alphabetical order as they are in the printed version.

The listing is aimed to use search, instead of alphabetical.

For example, if I want to search for cafe’s or restaurant, I can type in “cafe” click search and all the cafe’s show up.

With the paid adverts first.

If I want to search for a specific name of a restaurant, for example, Terah’s Restaurant. Then only Terah’s restaurant comes up. Which is, in this case, an unpaid advert.
Because there is only one Terah’s Restaurant, only one shows up. To mention is that unpaid adverts do NOT show on the map, nor do they have support for turn-by-turn gps guidance.
Aiming at the mobile users listing all businesses on alphabetical order is not “functional”, as it is superseded by the search. I can add something like alphabetical listing if there is a need for it.

Search for business by name

Alphabetical order.

Based upon YOUR feedback we have added an alphabetical order of businesses, this list is ALL the businesss listed. It does not specifies between paid or un-paid listings.
